ReactOS uses a X.Y.Z scheme for releases:
X indicates whether or not the project has reached its intended goal.
Y indicates a major release (notable features and enhancements).
Z indicates a minor release (bug fixes and general development). We call that the release branch.
Currently we do aim to fix all official releases branches beginning with 0.4.7 with some patches we believe to be important even after that branches initial release day. So it may make sense to recheck the official download page https://sourceforge.net/projects/reactos/files/ReactOS/ now and then to see whether a specific branch received an update for you.
Planned versions
Important milestones currently set are the 0.5.0 and 1.0.0 releases. The current 0.4 series mark the last of the alpha release series. Starting with the 0.5 series the project intends to move into beta status. The 1.0 series and later will signify releases that are ready for everyday use.
Old versions
There is no documented information for versions prior to the 0.0.7 release.
