VirtualBox: when the AMD PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973) is not recognized

I had the problem that the above network card wasn't recognized. Since I found this page with the info that it works with pcnet-driver, one way to make this work is:

  • take another VM software (e.g. QEMU) + set up pcnet there, save this image and import back to VirtualBox, used ReactOS version: 0.3.10

Since this converting is uncomfortable +RTFM can not always be done, would be helpful to find out how this can be done from inside ReactOS (e.g. in device manager the network driver can be manually set; edit some ini file; boot up option; ...). --Erkan Yilmaz 12:17, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

We need to get those content into compatDB, as it better fits there, if there are any problems, like compatDB isn't able to represent those contents, it would be nice to have some ideas how it could. --DangerGround 18:03, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it's ready for that, take for example "3C900-TPO", do a search and it will show no results, even though the entry is: "Parallel tasking II Performance 40-0336-004 3COM 3C900-TPO EtherLink XL". BTW what's "usable" what didn't you submit? --Gabriel_it 24 November 2009.

Missing Revision or no chipset. --DangerGround 09:13, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Setting this page as a speedy deletion candidate isnt going to help at all, worse, its gonna slow down the CompatDB adoption process. At the moment i feel CompatDB being pushed without any upperhand check if its really ready. Please remove all deletion marks from Supported Hardware and let the adoption go by without any forcing. --Haos 15:58, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
