Another question about USB

Post by GaeTaN »

Hi !
I see in the news that they added USB drivers to the svn version of ROS :
*USB drivers added to bootcd
Does that means that usb keyboard/mouse will work on version 0.3 ? I don't really know what Svn is, and for the moment I prefer trying to use ROS with the live CD, but it's better if I can get keyboard and mouse working :)
You understand why USB is so important for me ;)
Anyway keep up the great work !
BTW, any release date for 0.3 ?

well... 0.2.8 should be released soon.
It will still take some time before version 0.3 ...

The 0.2.8 release will support USB mouse and keyboard
But I do not how good the current USB support is.

Anyway, the 0.2.8 RC1 release does not support either my keyboard or my mouse
Any ideas why ? It's quite sad to see the ROS desktop showing himself in less than 10 seconds, and not being able to play with it :)
I would love to develop a few things on it ;)

Who's working for USB support ?
I can't wait to know, sorry, it's just, I would love to use ROS on real hardware, it's not the same than emulators :)

For the moment, RC1 and TC2 don't support USB mouse/keyboard, are you sure it will be available ?
BTW, when will the final 0.2.8 ROS available ? I'm impatient

Try the SVN then.

Well, then you should try the SVN version to see if that satisfies your needs.
You find it here: http://svn.reactos.org/iso/
then hit Latest ISO and Download
Then it's just to install and try it out.

Ok, I've had a few problem with Reactos login system, I reinstalled windows, and now I can't log in anymore with my old account

Anyway, for USB, is it possible to know which usb thing are supported ?
And how can I know the one I have ?
The mouse/keyboard are plugged in my motherboard's usb, but I also have a pci usb card.

UHCI struggles with Interrupt errors.

Post by Jaix »

Right now there is also a problem with the UHCI interrupt handling, Fireball tries to fix this, but hasn't succeded yet, but hang on, in time UHCI (which is the most used USB interface) will work.
The OHCI interface isn't as usual but XBox and some HW vendors use it.

The easiest way I know to figure what USB controller that is installed in a computer is to use an installation of windows. Go to the device manager and look for USB controllers and choos properties. Go to the drivers tab and hit the more information button, there you see a list of drives used, one of them looks like this:
c:\Windows\System32\usbohci.sys for OHCI controller and of cource
c:\Windows\System32\usbuhci.sys for UHCI controller.
