Idea for running Apps in R-OS

Post by Rebirth »

Hi all, my first post.

I've known about R-OS for several years and have high hopes for it, so i wish you all the best.

I was wondering if running NON install Apps/Portable might be a good solution to avaiod any possible conflicts, driver etc issues etc ?

Yesterday for the first time i downloaded - ReactOS-0.3.9-REL-qemu - and ran it from within Vista, and also off a USB stick, both whilst running inside Returnil for my initial run as a precaution. I couldn't find a way to import Foxit PDF reader to try my idea. How would we accomplish this ?

Thanx in advance.

Hi rebirth
You can find a lot of Portableapps in Portableapps.com, but there are some apps working now in Ros.
About Readers you have Acrobat Reader,Foxit Reader and SumatraPDF working in Ros ;)

Yes i have a number of PA's on my USB drive, not U3, quite a few came from Portableapps.com.

I couldn't find a way to IMPORT these, or anything from the USB drive, or my real hard drive, into R-OS. Could someone point me in the right direction please.

Thanx

USB isn't fully supported by ROS, so you won't have much luck there, sorry. But getting things into ROS is quite easy by using .iso's in VMs and conventional CD's on real hardware (use CD-R's if you use this method).

Running portable app versions can only help if sole issue lies in the installer application. Sometimes it helps, not always.
