[solved] Internet on QEMU

Post by doomonyou »

I have tried several releases of RectOS in QEMU (from the download page) on WinXP and I cannot get internet to work in ReactOS. Any ideas? Could it be my antivirus (AVG Free) or some stupid windows setting I'm missing?

First off, is QEMU's network tab under your virtual system set to User Mode?

Huh? I have no clue what that means. I used the prebuilt package because I have no clue how to operate a VM. The issue shows up in VirtualBox as well. If you can, please elaborate.

How are you trying to access the Internet? (which web browser, etc)

Bear in mind that there is a bug that requires you to move the mouse in order for network data transfer to occur atm.

Ok. Right now trying to download a browser from Download! is my problem. I remember the cursor bit and tried that. How do I launch ROS taskmanager if Ctrl+Alt+Del opens the host's taskmanager?

Edit: I checked device manager (on ROS) and found a NIC. I think the issue is with windows.

You can open it with:
1)Go to the bar where is the Start Button.
2)Right click in the middle of that Bar.
3)Select Open TaskManager from the menu that has appeared.

That won't happen if ReactOS is as slow as what I've dealt with. QEMU was unbelievably slow across all OSes for me. if you are indeed as slow as me, what WILL happen is that the task manager tray icon will appear, but not the task manager dialog itself. When this occurs, double left-click the tray icon for the task manager and just be patient (as it took me about 2 minutes for it to pop-up in QEMU.) Right-clicking the tray icon will result in no right-click menu no matter how long I waited.

But as I said, that's if you're as slow as me.

I dont have issues with QEMU and ReactOS, because im trying VMWare Server(which is free).
But testers are using KQemu/QEMU without problems.

QEMU networking is known to fail if host is set to static IP.

The issue is wireless. It works just fine with a Lan connection.
