Install from CD failed "Failed to read the PVD"

Post by formula13x » Wed Aug 23, 2006 4:24 pm

I found a way to boot from the CD but now the Setup failes when it first starts. It appears it is trying to detect the hardware, and then fails.
The first message that is given is.

Failed to read the PVD
I hit enter from the "OK" prompt.

Then I receive

Disk Read Failed
Error Code:0x1
Error: bad command passed to driver

Next (same message)

Disk Read Failed
Error Code:0x1
Error: bad command passed to driver

Next

Failed to read the super block

Next (same as above again)

Disk Read Failed
Error Code:0x1
Error: bad command passed to driver

Next

Failed to read the boot sector.

Next (Same as above again)

Disk Read Failed
Error Code:0x1
Error: bad command passed to driver

Next

Failed to read the boot sector

Next

Unable to locate boot partition

Next

Failed to open boot drive

Any Ideas? Or is there any way to perform the install from the hardisk? (I'm not running windows, I just have a blank fat32 partition as my 1st partition)
My Partitions are as follows
Partition 1: Fat32 (empty but formatted)
Partition 2: Fat32 (empty but formatted)
Partition 3: Linux Swap
Partition 4: Linux Native

This is on an old Gatway Solo 2300 Laptop.

Is there any ideas or possible other solutions for this?

I also get the same error messages and I am SO looking forward to trying this OS as an MS alternative.

Have a great one all,
