State of fltmgr

Post by ofniemag »

I tried installing Diskeeper 2011 in ReactOS VM installation and the installer failed.
I'm mostly interested in the state of fltmgr.dll driver in ReactOS - is it mature enough to be WinXP_SP3's fltmgr replacement?

Guess not, since the whole thing is in alpha state. I just got so excited to have a better option, but it'll have to wait. Till then I'm happily using fltMgr from Win2003 SP2 R2.
Here's to quick progress of ReactOS.

If you need developer's opinions, I strongly recommend to join https://chat.reactos.org
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

By the way, please, would you make the ReactOS website more friendly to the UXP browsers (from roytam1): I cannot reach chat.reactos.org upon logging in.
In the left corner it ways "< Logout" while being on https://chat.reactos.org/select_team and other is blank slate.

I think this is more a bug there and not over here. Recently I tried to run my Plex on ROS. After a while I had a few browsers doing nice work and one of them was from roytam1. Compared to the Chrome based ones there were a few interesting font size and drawing issues though.

Perhaps it will work in Serpent 52.9 in the future - or better fltMgr will soon be useful as a replacement.
From what I tested it fails gracefully when I replaced fltMgr.sys, fltMc.dll and fltlib.dll in my XP_SP3 install - none of the filters get loaded.

Hey hi, the state of fltmgr.dll driver in ReactOS may not be mature enough to serve as a replacement for WinXP_SP3 fltmgr.

From what I've seen, the state of fltmgr.dll driver in ReactOS is still a bit shaky. It might not be quite up to par with WinXP_SP3's version yet. Have you considered trying a different version of Diskeeper?

I of course could run a DK without filters (2009) but I specifically wanted the one with - also to see how far ReactOS is done in this regard.
