Hi there,
I try to instal reactos on s HP Omnibook 5700ct, running WIN95.
I put in the latest BIOS, but the unit is still not able to boot from a CD. There is no setup for this option in the bios.
I tried to follow an older description of reactos, saying that i can type BOOT or ABOOT on the dos prompt, when the software is put on the HDD before, but it does not work.
Using the "Welcome" ikon produces an error message "MSVCRT.DLL" not found. In which folder shall I instal this .DLL?
Is there a way to get it installed on this laptop?
Any help and comments are welcome.
Best regards
Karl

Hi,
thanks for the quick response to my question.
I put the MSVCRT.DLL in the c:\windows\system\
When I start the Welcome program od CD now it tells me:
MSVCRT.DLL is linked to the missing Export-KERNEL32.DLL : Get File Attributes ExA linked.
I tried to find this KERNEL32.DLL but without success.
I ould in the past install WINNT4 and SUSE LINUX Versio 8.x on this PC, by use of booting disks which in turn starts the installation of the OS from the CD.
Is something available for ReactOS? I read that GRUB can do, but I found only something which has to compiled to get rady for use. I'm not a programmer and not familiar with such compilations. Can You get me any further help on this topics? PLEASE.
Thank you in advance.

Hello there,
Ifound the KERNEL32.DLL in the c:\windows\system folder finally.
Beside the MSVCRT.DLL ther are MSVCRT20.DLL and MSVCRT40.DLL installed on the disk. The WIN95 is the original supplied from HP.
Hope this helps in finding a way to get it working.

Those other msvcrt*.dll are new versions of the library. They are used by other progams.
msvcrt.dl should automaticlly use the kernel32.dll. It's even a more common lib. Have you copied the msvcrt.dll on the c:\windows\system?
Can you type the version of those libraries yo're using? i suppose the problem is due to old versions.

Hi Sarocet,
the other msvcrt*.dll are dated 05.09.96 and had been supplied on the WIN95 recovery - disk delivered from HP with the laptop. it say version 4.10.6038 and that they are from microsoft. They are all in the c:\windows\system folder.
The laptop have a 4gig HDD partitioned to 2x 2gig. The booting part (C: ) is FAT 16 the second part is (D: ) is FAT 32. I hope this does no matter. However, I tried to install on C:
Would it be of any help, when I supply you the content of the original booting FDD, which starts, driven by a small menue, the installation of WIN95 from the CD-Rom?

Hi EmuandCo,
I had NT4, WIN 2k and SUSE LINUX (Version 8.xx) runnig on the laptop. All this OS can be istalled by use of some FDD, one can copy from the original Disk.
All this OS have one in common, they are to slow (I know Processor & RAM).
I would like to try ReactOS for curiosity only, just to check if it is runnig better (faster).
WIN 95 was originally supplied with the laptop. WIN 98 and ME is not in my favour because of frequent crashes the produce.
However thanks to you and the community for the patients and help.
If any of you have an idea, how to get ReactOS on this laptop, you are all invited for helping me out. THANKS.
