not able to boot from livecd on real hardware (0.2.8)

Post by kaibab »

here is my problem:
I boot from SMB to the cdrw drive, the screen goes to a dos-like console screen. The text says, "Please press any key to boot from the cd" (something like that), I press a key and then it goes to blinking cursor right under the text. The cursor just sits there blinking, doing nothing, the cdrw drive even stops spinning the cd. i run programs from windows and they work good, just ros explorer doesn't run from windows

I am trying to boot from the 0.2.8 livecd. It has even done this on the 0.2.7 livecd

dell machine
863MHz PIII (intel 815 chipset)
386MB memory
WinXP Home SP2
usb hub, intellipoint optical mouse, standard keyboard, dell monitor, rage 128 pro 16MB video card, creative sound card, zip drive, 80GB hard drive

I've heard more reports that using SBM doesn't work. Haven't looked at it much further. Please file a bug report at
