Just an idea

Of course its important! debugging is not just important , but critical for any development project, not only ROS ;)

I agree with cruonit, there is dozens of system info apps, no need to write our own, or at least not a full blown one, just the glue to send the results to the Website. We need to check carefully the licence agreement for the apps though, as some of them are freeware for personal use, and I'm not sure that massively collecting data on a Web site qualify as "home/personal" use. IANAL

If we have an application in Rapps that examines hardware, we need to have some way of making it generally available (ie. post the link on the site). Users who have hardware that ROS does not run on can then use the application in Windows/WINE and report a failure with a given hardware combination.

Hi guys, I managed to get ROS r60196 to install and boot on a Compaq Presario V2000. I'll need to install the drivers and see about getting the trackpad to work. Now I can get ROS to install on real hardware, YAY.
