Post by abma »

How can i add a game to the ReactOS Application Manager?

would a patch be welcome that adds spring (gpl rts engine) to rapps?

i would just add a file spring.txt in the rapps/rapps folder

Hi abma!
In order to add a new app to Rapps we need the following.
1)Screenshot of the App working in ReactOS.
(My desire is to clean all the non-working current apps in Rapps, and hence a "Working" state is needed for new entries)
2)Link to current binaries.

Are you part of the Spring team development?Or do you have any relationship with them? :)

1. that will maybe the hard thing. it currently fails with "Could not chdir into C:\Program Files\Spring",

this code fails on reactos, but works on windows:
http://pastebin.com/ivZ3iR2r
compiled: http://abma.de/tmp/test_chdir.exe
chdir to "C:\ReactOS" fails with "Invalid Buffer" while chdir to "C:\Reactos\" works fine.

bug report: http://www.reactos.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=6919

2. ok, that shouldn't be a problem :)

yes, i'm one of the devs.

I'm tracking down the bug ;)
Having contacts with the project helps as the Rapps apps maintaining (new Spring releases) will be moved to their Projects. We can't update continuously the links to the new binaries, hence my question.

I was really busy these weeks. But I am trying to find where it fails, at least :). Let's see if I can find the issue...

I've tried to setup it in ReactOS 0.3.16, but reactos just hangs/crashes when i download files it seems. I've used the virtualbox provided image with virtualbox. Which version of reactos is known to run most stable?
qemu, vmware or virtualbox?

Use a nightly build instead, because 0.3.16 is quite old now and many bug fixes were done since then...

It says with minimum and recommended specs:"128 MB Nvidia Geforce 6xxx graphics card"

Isn't ATI/AMD supported?

because of bad opengl drivers nvidia was a long time prefered. currently it seems it works quiet well with ati, too. imo not supported means: no active dev which develops gfx stuff has an ati card. this is a bit missleading, true.

Both drivers wont work right now.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

I don't expect it to work. I hoped, that it is possible to download and install it, but atm I even can't download it. Not sure what you want to say, IMO that's off topic when "working" opengl drivers are a long goal of reactos.

FYI: for spring exists a lobby application which is a native windows app based on wxwidgets.

Well, if it's working with ATI/AMD as well, I would adapt that sentence a bit so it reflects this too. As it stands now, it's as if only NVIDIA is supported/working with it, due to the phrasing. Maybe something along the line of 'or ATI/AMD equivalent"?
