Cannot build ISO from USB branch.

Post by FlyingIsFun1217 »

I've built (successfully, as far as I can tell) the USB branch to try out, but I noticed that even though I had used the make option 'bootcd', no ISO image was built, and the last error that the build process showed said:
ReactOS Cabinet Manager

Optional file does not exist: output-i386/dll\3rdparty\dxtn\dxtn.dll.
File does not exist: output-i386/drivers\hid\mouhid\mouhid.sys.
Directive file contains errors at line 544.
make: *** [bootcd_CABINET] Error 1

Total Build Time: 00:47:44
Something I'm missing here?

Thanks,

And if it's any help, the files in my output-i386/bootcd/ directory total up to about 15 Mb, which seems strange to me, but maybe it's supposed to be that small?

Is that the usb-bringup-trunk branch? I get the same errors using rosBE, trunk builds an ISO fine however.

That is indeed what is happening.

Best ask the maintainer(s) of the branch I guess, they may be building it via different means

The USB branch is changing daily so fast. Update and retry :) I've heard that during this evening there was a problem with one commit.
Please, retry and tell us if the compilation is still failing.
Btw, Real Hardware testings are really wellcome.
Now there is some work to support USB composite devices.
Please report the hangs, problems you're finding. Real hardware+USB debuglogs are really appreciated.

Just did a "makex bootcd" build 55361 and it failed with the same message. Builds a livecd successfully however it says cannot load boot drivers (vbox).

Same here. Glad to know it's not just my machine acting wonky.

----------EDIT----------

Strangely, every machine I tried the livecd on gives me a message saying "Can't load boot drivers!", so I tried it in VB, which gave me the same error (which I've never seen in VB).

Guess just wait for a new revision and try rebuilding?

Following (verbatim) the build instructions from the ReactOS wiki, I was able to get a bootcd iso without such errors using CMake. Chances are it could be a recent commit broke something that causes rbuild to not work correctly.

My environment.
-Windows 7 Professional x64
-RosBE 1.5.1.1
-CMake 2.8.7

I haven't had a chance to test the ISO, but for convenience sake, here's the image generated. I know this doesn't fix the problem, but at least you can still test the usb-bringup branch (assuming the image works correctly).

That branch is still in progress, so breakages will occur. I had a good build using revision 55370.

Thanks for that Shade, I get the errors with both the 1.5 and 2.0RC so i'm not sure what the issue is.

Were you doing anything out of the ordinary to get it to build, or was it just a revision that built correctly?

FlyingisFun,
Do the following:
1)Check the Path in RosBE is pointing to the correct Trunk (if you have two different repositories)
2)If the Path is pointing to the USB branch:
2a) Introduce the following command: Clean ALL
2b) Then update to the specific revision that Haos pointed: svn update XXXXXX (being XXXXXX the number of the revision)
2c) Use: makex bootcd

Tell us the results :)

That was the procedure I went through

Yep, did that again, and I'm still getting the same error when it goes to make the bootcd.

chdefdir to the base folder from svn checkout, makex bootcd, and the same errors. Building the livecd still works, just always get the "Cannot load boot drivers!" error.

----------EDIT----------

Using Qemu and the image built and provided,
I went through install, but upon bootup, it gives an error saying "No active partition found".
