VMware Tools

New user--downloaded preinstalled VMware VM.
Got some guff about Tools, so tried to install them. Got:

setup.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x777b0bae" referenced memory at "0x0000003c". The memory could not be "read".

So no Tools.
I don't know if this is the proper location for this, but just thought someone might want to know.
