Can I install reactos with winXP system ?
Can I install reactos with winXP system by virtual drive on the real hardware platform?
I think there is little Significance to test compatibility with virtual hardware environment ?
And CD burning is too expensive.

Dont burn CDs, use CDRW. As for Virtual Drive, the answer is no. Such drive would not be active/present, when booting OS, as its most likely initialised after XP is booted.

You couldn't be more wrong here, ros not only is not compatible at hardware level in this stage, but also at software level, unimplemented, or misbehaving API calls... this is when a VM is really more helpful, as testing here not only is faster but easier...acat1433 wrote:I think there is little Significance to test compatibility with virtual hardware environment ?

er, I just want to test reactos in the real hardware with a fast way.
Don't get angry , please!
All windows system can be installed by inserting a ISO file into Virtual CD-ROM drive.
Then , click the setup.exe from the Virtual CD-ROM drive.
I saw there is the similar setup file in the reactos's ISO file.
But it does not work with winXP.
Should I convert all disk partition to FAT32 system ? Is it the key ?
Or may this function be added in the next release ?

There is a setup window, but it doesn't work. We also discourage people from installing ReactOS to replace their WIndows install - it is simply not ready for that.
To install ROS on real hardware, you must burn it to cd (cdrw is better than cdr here) and boot it. Dont do it on your production hardware though.
For real hardware tests you need additional equipment, as debug logs from ROS runing is required. To gather those, you need another PC and a proper cable (serial null modem or usb>serial) to connect them.

Is there a schedule to be ready to make that thing working ?
Or , do I have to wait for reactos-release-0.5 ?

Re: Can I install reactos with winXP system ?
No schedule of the kind you mentioned exisits. We are all working in our free time, so there is no possiblilty to say when something is going to be accomplished and what will follow it.
Re: Can I install reactos with winXP system ?
I saw a BOINC project named "Crash Collection" which is aimed at finding out the reason why some program crash with windows system.
So, is there any similar thing with reactos ?
Er, just a cranky idea.
