No, do NOT revive old topics, make new ones, especially for topics that are from months or even years ago.

Do you mean that can be a bad publicity?

No, because usually info in that topic is going to be outdated.

On contrary, then, devs can show/explain all progresses made !

BTW, is the first time I hear that a new 3ad - on the same topic - must be open in a forum...

It's been part of the code of conduct for quite some time now. And quite frankly, if someone resurrects a thread that is years old, we have no context as to what that person wants because the information originally in the thread likely has nothing to do with the current state of affairs. This gets even worse if there were a lot of posts in the thread, in which case we wouldn't even know what point the person was referring to. While the poster might have read through the thread, people who see the latest post will likely have completely forgotten anything associated with the thread, which greatly reduces the chance of anyone responding to whatever query or point the newest poster made.

If so, it's another disincentive (after the reset of the wiki) for the first hour's voluntary contributors, who see their contributions overtaken from newcomers.

Sorry, this is not meritocracy.

...doing searches on the web needs time and skills !

So I don't need to be picked, but i believe that a method to take trace of contributions (not the devs ones that *are* recognized, of course) would stimulate every supporter that, since donate their time/skills, could have at least a "moral recognition".

Just two important examples that involved my contributions: UniATA & FullFAT

The reward for such a work would be self satisfaction and confidence of the dev team. Of course this isn't much, but I can't see a convenient way of giving you more.

Maybe we can create a wikipage where our users can write down their suggestions adding their names to it, and avoiding duplicities, we can use its "talk" page to discuss them, or also the forum. It will be anice way to not forget good 3r party suggestions.
What do you think about this idea?
