News snippets on ReactOS
If you are unable to hang around and lurk with us on IRC channel, also if you cannot follow svn commits, and intervals between newsletters are too big for your liking, i`ve decided to set up a twitter and share news with anyone willing to follow. I cannot guarantee everyday input but will try to be regular (if anything interesting happens). Link: https://twitter.com/Caemyr
Re: News snippets on ReactOS
Short, timely updates, in contrast to the irregular and lengthy newsletter.
I like it!

26.07.2010 - Revision 48278 is the first one that could be built by amd64 ROSBE. The ISO still doesnt work, locking up in freeldr, but from now on we will be able to guard trunk for amd64 correctness. Now it is also time to rise ARM to the same stage.
24.07.2010 - a CMake bringup branch was started, attempting of adapting it to our project. CMake is a compile automation system, well known for its elasticity and cross-platform capabilities. We hope to drop rbuild completely, along with its performance issues.

Re: News snippets on ReactOS
I`ve decided to stop vbox testing on my buildbot, effective from today. Its a temporary step, unless a better way of handling it can be devised. If there is a need for another winetest run, testbot requires a basic working sysreg for virtualbox.
There is another way, much more simple. Another build target could be set up, similar to roscdtest. It would be an unattended install cd, like roscdtest, but after getting into 3rd stage, it would issue shutdown. So basically, it would check if ReactOS properly boots and shuts down.
Why cant i leave it like that? Starting vbox manually, by cmdline is not a perfect solution. I need to check it few times a day against hanged sessions, which take up precious cpu time and slow down buildbot itself.

Re: News snippets on ReactOS
The trunk has been frozen, because of regression pile-up. Only three developers retained commit access, Fireball and Physicus will review and commit bug fixes, whereas Sir_richard will continue his work on memory manager as well as commit eVb's work on new PCI driver we badly need. The list of blockers is still being formed up, as some get reviewed and assigned for later work and new ones are found. Hopefully, we can end up with trunk patched up nice enough for a long-awaited release.

Forum thread is not really suitable for news update. From now on you can expect fairly recent news on http://www.myreactos.com/en

Twitter is evil and gives people away.
