[idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
I honestly don't know if bundling a benchmarking tool into an OS (as Vista does) it's a good idea, but open source tests/benchs are certainly more objective/reliable than closed ones, IMHO.
I believe the most correct (and useful) path to follow should be to put the tool (an integrated sysinfo/bench suite would be great) in Download! and enable the website to host a reports database.
Here are some links (that may inspire and/or could be involved...): Last but not least, I also discovered the Open Source based Desktop Benchmark project too...

What for? if they want to benchmark, they can always get whatever benchmarking suite they want. I for one certainly don't pay attention to Vista's benchmarks
Have you tried these programs on ReactOS? If something does not work, obtain a debug log and file a bug report.

Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
I actally think this would be a good idea and to have something like what the vista/windows 7 one is but do one better than that make all a mini full fledged benchmark

Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
i would like to see a integrated benchmarking tool like windows Vista and Windows 7 has but Would like to see the Benchmarking it takeing a littel farther so it just not a simple benchmark but also not a over complcated one too maby looking at these open source bench mark tool willl help you guys be able to do this if you ever decide to do this

Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
I`m not against integrating some simple benchmarking tools into rostest, provided that they wont add much of complexicity to the build process and wont add too much size to ROS itself.

Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
I am. It's another possible point of failure, and extra layer of complexity that we can do without.
Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
This could be a terrible regression test suite too.
Functionality is ok but performance is poor... hard to get without a good benchmarking tool.
Some tools already exist. I wonder if this would be easy to run them and get their results in an automated way...
(BTW, getting better perf than windows would be a terrible selling argument)

Re: [idea] Integrated benchmarking tool
Exactly, and an "inert version" (aka portable) would be even better, IMHO.Haos wrote:I`m not against integrating some simple benchmarking tools into rostest, provided that they wont add much of complexicity to the build process and wont add too much size to ROS itself.
Well, the unique one - at the moment - seems to be CrystalDiskMark, that is BSD and updated (2009-08-12 according to its SF.jp page).
As always it would be better to *involve* its author then "stealing" its code...
(for example it could be very interesting to integrate CrystalCPUID in the "System properties splash screen"...)
Open CPU Benchmark seems interesting too, but won't work for me
BTW, I believe that "core performances" should just cover the machine's CPU, DISK and (possibly) RAM: nothing other.
GPU benchs requires mutch more complexities, so it's better to have a separate non-integrated applications (something like DXdiag to get an idea) to me.

@Lone_Rifle
This is why i`m seeing it in rostests. Most of stuff there fails anyway.

I like to see simple benchmarks like Performance in Windows Administrative Tools.
