Logon Sound - Choose your favorite(s)!
Logon sound voting:
We've collected 30 sound samples from Freesound and we'd like you to vote for your favorite one(s).
The most voted one will be chosen as the default logon sound. The second most voted could be chosen as an alternative, etc.
You're allowed to vote for five at most, the poll will run for three weeks.
We've created a playlist with all the 30 tracks.
Every item in the poll has a link to the track. Listen to all of them and then vote for your preferred one(s).
That's all, let the poll begin!
EDIT1: Added LoneRifle's candidate, he kindly grants ReactOS the use of his work.
EDIT2: Added "none of the above" as an option, please re-submit your votes since counter's been resetted automatically.

Sorry,
but there´s no one i would chose. taste´s are different.
Perhabs it´s better to ask a musician to create something, there´s lots of them.

I happen to be one. In fact, I've contemplated contributing a logon sound. Give me a while, I'll need to convince a harpist to work with me.
EDIT: Nah. MIDI instruments sound fine. http://www.badongo.com/audio/16483441

If you want to vote, then choose from the above. All the other samples completely don't suit the purpose.

lol,
2437__nicStage__HammerDoneLoopFS sounds like directly from hell
Most of the rest is... well ... tastes are different. I wouldn't want my PC to start with any of these sounds.

That's an option too, don't vote for anyone.conrad wrote:but there´s no one i would chose.
If you have something better, or rather, that better suits your taste and it's under a usable license feel free to post it here.
Re: Logon Sound - Choose your favorite(s)!
I don't like the ReactIT sound... It has a good idea there, but it has very low sound quality and highly distorted sounds are usually a pain on the ears. Lone_rifle's candidate definately has the better approach with a clean and simple sound.
Anyways, here's my entry:

I've used 100% free software, so there won't be any licensing issues. Feedback is welcome.

Re: Logon Sound - Choose your favorite(s)!
I just thought about it.
After every windows install, I would go to the sounds and switch off the windows startup sound. So I just thought it's useless, but it is good to sit in an office and when a punk switch on his PC you can hear what he is booting by the sound it makes when his pc starts. So I thought well ReactOS should definitely have one.
Then I though why I used to remove the windows sound: When I switch on my PC and my speakers volume is on high the windows sound would wake up everybody in the house. But after hearing Ubunto's short drum beat I noticed it worked better, because even if my volume would be up high it goes away "quickly". So I'm voting for a short sound 2841_NoiseCollector_valcoustclean
Just my thoughts.
Cheers, Bernard

Ey Pesho sound is quite nice.I think Pesho and Lone are the best
Pesho maybe the last note shoul be one octave higher because always a higher note has been related with something that has finished to require your attention. Look the Chatzilla PING, the warning message PING that has Windows, and the latest note in any of the Windows Login music. But quite nice music.

Thanks alot vic! You're absolutely right about the "finishing ting" for startup sounds. Here's a newer version following your suggestion:

Great, but it's a bit too long. 3-5 seconds is perfect, but any longer and it's not very good. Look at any startup tune, XP's, 2k's, Vista's, Ubuntu....
