Dual core usually, depending on models. Older ones were singlecore. AMD rough counterpart is Opteron series.

Check the model number, it's a line of processors that have been around forever. There are a bunch of single core ones, but they stopped making there last single cores a few months ago. Right now new Xeons have 2, 4, or 6 cores.

Try asking around in the gNewSense Forum if strict adherence to the FSF definition of Freedom is what you're after.

I meant that it was written that AMD should be used because they have contributed by giving major bits of bios.

mandriva have a drakeconf as mandriva media controlcenter, also mmc or drak...conf (drakconf)
it's come from mandrake configuration, with the name befor Mandriva was mandrake, there it's the name drake,

and with drak[tabtab] can you see all possibnilitys to configuring some
things on console or easy "setup", also have you use 3 possibiles to confiring it "setup"+"mmc"+"drakconf" or some drakx11 or draknet, drak.... and others..

old, not actual and not manny rpm-packets
with Mandriva you can use a "live"mirror per ftp
and have most actual software if you use 2009.1,
but, more stabile and realy good it is easy kde 3.5.10
and virtualbox it is in Mandriva 2008.1 too. with RPC, vnc
and some things... i know why i tell to use mandriva...
