looks neat

Questions:
how well does it scale?
would it go well with the rest of the icons?
does it follow the Tango Guidelines?

The angle's a bit much, but - overall - it looks quite nice.

1.] It should be SVG if you wanted it to scale (Reflections can be put into SVGs too you know.) But I don't think it would scale very well as a PNG.
2.] Not really
3.] No. It doesn't follow Tango Color Guidelines, I'm sure of it.

In regards to the angle, I think it looks fine.

Well it doesnt need to follow any guideline. If he makes all the icons following the same Guideline.
Tango Guideline isnt GOD. Just make sure it follows same guideline.

I think its great... the angle might be a bit much...try to reduce all the empty space around it...it will scale better that way...You told me that you had a bigger version of it?? Try cropping the image... and then resizing it to 128x128.. that will improve the image quality and really help the scaling situation..i resized it into every icon size out there...and every color pallete.... they all look good..but the 16x16 looks like a square...its hard to read the "C:\_" prompt.. just some suggestions....overall a great icon..

cheers,

But should we really use Tango? The icon set just looks primitive and childish, and not in the pleasingly deliberate way like Buuf.

They're fine as placeholders for now, but I hope that ROS would get a better one before 1.0...

Hy,

my oppinion, kick some "Guidelines" brrrhh ... let see good.. give only a good feeling and nice style.
that's all what's realy need, it mus have a nice play around and good match to have a realy nice feeling
not more and not less imho, that's shold be the Guideline.. and not ,
which gave someone forwards and guidelines, only so can new things developing .

good look, good feel and a nice interaction. easyly humanlike
and if it is come one or other new icon on it, so give it a fresh brise
and a modern style . Therewith i say, whay not some modern icons
who have a nice look and feel at more as 4-8 persons..

and once say i am now, not all can work with svg-images, imho.. bahh.. oky,
be scaleable, but not the non + ultra, i like the easy way to have icons-themes,
and i think others too.. some icons in a folder and good it is, oky, need some ram,
need speed, but it is the easyst way to create, make and have themes(icons-themes).
There way have kde not a bad way in my humble opinion. any can make
easy a icontheme.. oky, if then support some svg-pictures to make svg-themes,
why not, but it shold be a easy way to have diffrent icon-themes..
with diffrent supportet formats of pictures..

oh, now I am a little out curved.. sorry for that'

later can have and make some themes diffrent Guidelines..
but we need now a good look and feel.. easy humanlike , that's all.. ... imho..

This is developing an design ! a Reactos own Design !
an feel and look goodlike..

best regards

I agree with both blackcrack and aape, why must we stick to a guideline?? I say that as long as the icons MATCH THE STYLE of themselves (cartoon to cartoon, vista to vista, glossy to glossy, etc) then they'll be just fine! Not just one icon set is going to please everyone! Let's have some diversity people! If someone wants to download a shell pack or such, and they're all the same, then that was a wasted download, eh? I agree that we have a DEFAULT icon set, no problems there (which i am currently working on, with the help of john here ;) ) but I see no problems with letting people experiment with other icon styles. Hey! At least they're taking time out of their day to develop these icons! Look at the good bits, give complements where needed, give suggestions upon improvement as needed, and be OPEN MINDED! It can't hurt! Don't just say "This isn't following Tango's guidelines! It sucks!" thats not why he posted the icon. BE OPEN MINDED. :D

Cheers,

we can for you thieves/steal of Vista and OSX, no problem Elledan xtra for u' ,
but then we have a little problem my Dear  *rofl*

xchaos have right, why not n bit' more open minded, make it by self, icon of icon like this commandline icon,
a middle of WinXX Icons and KDE&some Icontheme who's it is give,
a direktly cutting on body of reactos with a lil' bit designfeeling..
and not an Icontheme of the bar..

You should talk to the devs about incorporating Oxygen then.
