New reactos cd cover
Why have reactos dvd cover design? (0.3.1 is little old, now we use ReactOS 0.3.7.
What with some new cover?
eg. Blueray cover

Or cd cover?

Re: New reactos cd cover
Should be nice having a better design, that "7" of "0.3.7" still looks like a "1"
I think saying "BlueRay disc" can be a little confusing, since i think we still not support blueray discs

Re: New reactos cd cover
I don't see why not - even the RMS approved gNewSense seems to have support for Blu-Ray discs built in.vicmarcal wrote:I think saying "BlueRay disc" can be a little confusing, since i think we still not support blueray discs
Unless you mean, "we still not support blueray discs for a while yet" (until someone has the time and inclination to write the necessary drivers).

Re: New reactos cd cover
Ubuntu doesn't even use a jewel case at all, why not just have it cardboard or something with a custom-ish sleeve?
This is a rather rough sketch using inkscape.

Ubuntu uses a cheap cardboard case because that way the free CDs don't cost as much to create. It depends on whether ReactOS will be available only as a download or whether the ReactOS foundation will sell CDs as Canonical does.Iyeru wrote:Ubuntu doesn't even use a jewel case at all, why not just have it cardboard or something with a custom-ish sleeve?

Well either way that's a diminishing market for sure; no increase in revenue over time. USB stick however....GoBusto wrote:Ubuntu uses a cheap cardboard case because that way the free CDs don't cost as much to create. Which is why having USB drivers is important. It would be neat to install ROS from an USB flash drive or run ROS from one.SdC wrote:Well either way that's a diminishing market for sure; no increase in revenue over time. Re: New reactos cd cover
First item will be possible with the new ROSE installer, second should be possible with the new USB stack. Both will be usable (more or less) somewhere in January next yeartomleem wrote: Which is why having USB drivers is important. Re: New reactos cd cover
A ~30Mb build packed in a BluRay disc? What a waste of space, isn't it?
Re: New reactos cd cover
isn't there a file system for Re-Writable discs that allows you to use them like a hard drive.Think the name was something like UDF. With that no wasted space.
Re: New reactos cd cover
I was thinking more in:Who have a BluRay installed in a PC?...and also: Is Reactos NOW(not in the future)compatible with BluRay?Can ReactOS understand NOW(not in the future) a BluRay Driver?a BlueRay disc?Angelus wrote:A ~30Mb build packed in a BluRay disc? What a waste of space, isn't it?
If ReactOS isnt(NOW) compatible with a BlueRay disc...what sense has having ReactOS packed in an unsupported format(Blu-ray)?
And well another nice questions:
Who is going to pay 9€ to copy a 30MB packet in a Blu-Ray disc(25GB)?When u can pay .50€ for a CD-R(700MB)...
Who has a Blu-Ray writer?To write our 30MB packet in a Blu-Ray....
Re: New reactos cd cover
Let's just buy up ancient 32-128 MB USB sticks for 1 cent/piece and distribute on those

Nice idea Elledan..
Talking about Designs, maybe we can take some designers to the Unofficial P&R team...to improve all the designs(flyers,PPT,and such..)...

Each user can edit latest PDF cover or create own using vector logo with Inkscape, Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator.
Re: New reactos cd cover
Why would there be a Blu-ray version? The day that operating systems need to be distributed on Blu-ray discs is the day that I stop upgrading. And the covers need more color, in my opinion. There's a huge problem on the Web (and in various projects) that stems from this notion that things need to be comprised of really drab colors in order to look professional.
