Reactos 0.3.8
0.3.7 has been released, so if u want to add any opinions/suggestions in the way to 0.3.8 would be nice to have all together here
Re: Reactos 0.3.8
I hope that this new version will include at least or USB support or Audio support. Then I think there'll be important improvements and bugfix about software compatibility... all very important things.
Re: Reactos 0.3.8
I hope 0.3.8 is stable enough to be the last 0.3.x.
Let's go for 0.4.0! Audio! USB keyboard and mouse support! SMB! More compatibility!
Then again, like this we have a new version every few months which is also very nice.

USB and Network sounds like a good plan though.

Real hardware can wait? I'm not sure I agree with that.[W]arriant wrote:First of all, I want it working a bit. I want a non-buggy Live CD that works good in any emulator. The other things can wait.
Re: Reactos 0.3.8
Have MS fix their video emulation in VPC. Then maybe our drivers will have a chance of functioning properly.

Re: Reactos 0.3.8
Are u sure? ..and why we have a lot of threads in this forum about problems with videocards, motherboards,HDD(sata),and so on?[W]arriant wrote: Plus there's not _that much_ difference between the emulated HW and the real one.
Maybe i dont have understood u well..(my english is so limited)..but why are u trying Live Cd in a emulator?Use the Boot Cd...[W]arriant wrote:I want a non-buggy Live CD that works good in any emulator. The other things can wait.
Boot CD works pretty well(with bugs of course). If u want to test LiveCd try it on Real Hardware.

Re: Reactos 0.3.8
I think that the issue is that, in order to make it more stable, you need to remove the hacks - and, in order to remove the hacks, you need to implement the missing functionality that they hack around. So adding new features and improving stability go hand-in-hand.[W]arriant wrote:My basic idea is to mainly make it more stable and usable, _then_ add new features like USB and God-knows-what.

Re: Reactos 0.3.8
Well [W]arriant, USB seems to be so necesary because most of our testers has USB mouse or USB keyboard. USB is stopping new tester to test in Real Hardware.
Also our developers are skilled more in one side than in others. I mean, there are graphics devs who arent interested in anything but graphics. So let´s them improve graphics. This also happens with USB or music support. There are devs just interested in USB so let´s them make USB, we cant redirect them to kernel if they dont want to help there.
USB is so important because mouse and keyboard
Music is a OS mainly feature. No OS can be called OS if it doesnt have (at least) a minimun music support.
