ReactOS 0.3.7

Post by nute »

It is September, how is 0.3.7 coming along?

After 0.3.7, will there be a 0.3.8?

How far away is 0.4.0?

I understand his anticipation :). I have to tell myself that the Devs are working their hardest and I appreciate the length in time it takes for each release but I still find myself daily checking for new releases hehehhe.

I am actually very enthusiastic about this project and cant wait for a actual everyday desktop usable release :) that day I will BURN all my windows CDs and DVDs in a glorious celebration.

Not all "Dark sides" are bad, sometimes the dark side helps the side of light. Also keep in mind, the more you ask, the more they may delay.

Here's something I'm wondering about, after 0.3.9 will it be 0.4, or will it keep going to 0.3.10? Is there a particular version that's planned on being the last in the 0.3.x series before moving on, or will 0.4 come out whenever its needed criteria gets fulfilled?

One thing for sure: We wont reach a 0.3.99, not even a 0.3.9. The Plan was to make one or two more minor releases and then 0.4.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

How can it be 2 more minor changes, USB support is missing
0.4 says
USB keyboard and mouse support

sure it has all the other parts, but is this part just going to be left out? if so change the Road map.

Those are only rumours. It's not been confirmed by the ReactOS Project Coordinator, Aleksey Bragin.

You mean on the wiki? The wiki lacks updates in many departments, I'm sure the roadmap is no different. Yes, USB support is written on the roadmap, even on the wikipedia page. It also says there should be winlogon support.

But Techno Mage, each release is 1 - 3 months apart from each other. A month isn't a long time to wait in comparison to Linux 6 month periods.

By "6 month periods" i'm sure you mean Ubuntu rather than linux proper
