Press -corner in ReactOS wiki pages?
How about a Press -corner in ReactOS wiki pages?
Press -corner should have brief description of the ReactOS -project
written in interested way. So it is something like brochure or flyer
about the project. It should also include few quality screenshots
of most interested features of the ReactOS right now.
(not more than 5 pictures I think).
Maybe it could be something like this:
-History (very short)
-Purpose (very short)
-Where we are now +some quality screenshots (most of the story)
-Near future (short)
-...?
I know almost all of this information can be found in wiki, forum,
fansites,... but it takes time to collect all the updated information
from all places and write a story. This should all be in one page,
like in magazines. It would be also easy to update by anyone, if
this page is in wiki -page.
This would really help anyone to write a story of ReactOS to their favorite
local PC magazine.

I think this is a good idea, but the page shouldn't be in the Wiki.
There should be a link on the main page instead that links to "press information" and is updated with every new release.
The Wiki has the disadvantage that anybody might write something that is not correct, so the page shouldn't be under public (write) access. It would be very confusing if a magazine would publish wrong information because of this. It can get even worser when the wrong information is triggering any legal activities or so.
I'm missing another "feature" on the reactos site: A possibility to collect donations. Well, at the moment there don't seem to be such high costs, but this will change over time I think. So it would be better to start now to collect donations and save them for the cost intensive times that will come. For example a new server with higher bandwith might be required.
One thing I currently know about is the issue for ReactOS to become a trademark. Donations would help there too I guess.
If magazines would publish more information (because of the Press corner), more people will look on the site and the more people who might want to donate something will get there too. So these two points would add to each other.

A working software is special state of chaos
that might behave as you have expected it to do.

What do you think if we use wiki as a work place for press articles so
that anyone can participate. There could be note in wiki page that this
is just a workplace for press articles and also link to published articles
in reactos.com.
Then someone with write access to reactos.com could move the article
into the reactos.com when it is ready and correct possible disinformation.

Doesn't anyone else have any comments on this
Does anyone disagree if I create someting like this in wiki pages:
Press corner workplaces
|
+--Workplace for Flyer
|
+--Workplace for "Release 0.3.0 article"
|
+--Workplace for "Magazine article of ReactOS"
Can I do that? I wait comments before I do anything.

ReactOS Ads for homepages
I think we should try to create a base Gif, Flash, SVG ads to help people who want to contribute with Web-space. It could be anything from the ReactOS logo to an exhortation to join in as a developer or leave the MS world for something better.
Something like this perhaps?

GAHNO! Flashing stuff is annoying. As I said above, your idea is great, but if at all possible, try to keep it as a PNG, or maybe single-frame GIF.

Coming on, coming up, let me help ROS and I'll be able to look @ a life well used.
Re: ReactOS Ads for homepages
We could perhaps have bouth static and dynamic ads and leave it up to the different webadmins to choose what type off ads they want to have on their pages.uniQ wrote:...OK, a little ad-image whould be nice, or maybe "Powered by ReactOS 0.3.0" ?
