I found an interesting article @ ecoIron that points to a very interesting page about monitor energy consumptions:

Dunno if some heard about the "barelly legal" Windows XP Professional Black Edition, then

1+1=2

Why don't we try to involve those "bad" guyz into help here ?
Or, at least, why don't we release an official energy-saving theme ?

Hi,

of course, your data is only right when you only observe the power consumption of CRT monitors. On Flap-panel displays, it is more power-efficient to display a white screen instead of black, simply because of the design of TFT-panels.

So, all in all there is no canonical solution to your problem. And why should the ReactOS project care about a group, whose only efford was to make a new style for Windows and blow it up with software? It should be obvious, that no source code at all is needed for that at all (what an absurd idea!). Furthermore, i think theming is currently a very low-priority task, so your suggestion "to do it within February 15" is ridiculous.

PS: "1+1=2" is only works on a set that fulfills the Peano axioms

Some guys fool with Windows code, then release it over Bittorent networks as custom editions. That's pretty much illegal, by the way. You also can change the GUI by changing some DLL codes and adding some GUI files. That probably violates the EULA somewhere down the line but I've never heard MS hoot and holler about it.

Well, actually there is no CODING in this fooling but using MS integrating possibilities and resource hack. But this fooling have it's end, especially when you're crashing because of repacked dll. Or get a trojan through a "new" system "hole".


There'd be a MUCH BETTER thing to involve DEMOSCENE guys with real tech and optimization skills. Know what 96Kb is? Have you seen something like that? If it will not run, watch the screenshots at least.

Yup, its a Dx9 game using state-of-the-art texture generation techniques. There is one level available. This game has hardware requirements going WAY beyond its size.
