The idea of ReactOS is to clone Windows functionality so it will run games and programs although it might take some time before you will be able to play most of the games.

You can check from the compatibility database if the game you want to play works with ReactOS. You could also test games by yourself and report success to compatibility database.

And remember ReactOS is still at alpha stage so it's not for daily use. Maybe after a year or two it will reach a state where it could be used in some situations but it depends on how much work people are willing to devote to this project.

EDIT: Corrected a typo.

ReactOS is using Wine source code but as it is developed for Linux there are parts which we can't use and need to be developed from scratch, most notably DirectX stuff (at least for end-user).

A clarification is in order. ReactOS is not Linux. It does not use the Linux kernel, nor does it use GNU utilities (that I know of). It is designed to implement the NT kernel from the ground up, meaning when it is complete, any application written for Windows 2000 to XP (and eventually Vista) will run on ReactOS. The only things that won't are say, Norton Antivirus, because they intentionally go deeper (which they shouldn't be doing) or any other application that uses undocumented functionality that ReactOS can't guarantee to work the same way or might not have.

ReactOS are not wine

Few part have been taken from wine.
Wine and ReactOS are two diffent project and diffent people. It is not same people.

It mean diffent compatible betwin us and wine,

1. ReactOS like doing implement it after NT arch, and implement all api we can.

2. Wine Does not after NT arch, they doing own way. like
if a program use a api implement it on top of linux core. and if no program do not use a api do not implement it.

and some other thing are diffent

hopefully this also means that holes in Windows will be filled and eliminate the need for such things mostly. ;p

Well, it is highly likely the ReactOS devs won't make the same mistakes as the Microsoft ones, but ofcourse even the ROS devs (I can't come to believe it myself tho) are human too... So there will probably be some holes eventually...

If NAV couldn't be installed on ROS, this is a good news. Keep in mind that, for ROS, when it will be finished, maybe for a hypotetical distro, it will be a good idea to introduce a HIPS and some other security tricks.
An heavy AV, or Anti-Malware, if possible, should be avoided as a solution for this issue.
