If some make Reactos+Freedos+MediaPortal to a OS

Post by LMH1 »

Hello if someone make ReactOS and MediaPortal and Freedos to a OS well it be more better than Microsoft (my opinion).

And if we use Openoffice, Firefox, Thunderbird well it be more than, windows mediacenter + Microsoft Office.

But it well be great is it pussible to use it to one OS.?

What think you about it?

Really if we cannot beat Windows Media Center in time we are doing something wrong.

MythTV a Linux based one in every review kicks Windows Media Center.

Reasons Number 1 Windows Media Center transcodes everything it records. unrequired processor over head.

The codec it transcodes to is takes more processor power to play back than what the default codec requires.

How can you say lemon.

This one has kinda stoped developing.

Might be useful in time.

Uhm, on their website they claim: "MediaPortal is an Open Source application ideal for turning your PC / TV into a very advanced Media Center."

...not so open, IMHO.

There are many open sourced TV/player softwares that don't need so much things !

DScaler (4.x) that access directly to hw (needs dshow ?)

Virtual VCR (needs WDM divers)

if it's true it will be a good idea to use this...

but I think a 2nd Team must come, which do this part of Xtras...
because the Developing Team should develope ReactOS so, that it come out of the Alpha Stage...

it is not good to have a system, that is not ripely.

a system must be like a apple not like cheese (with so much holes! For example: Security Holes, Bugs etc.)

I could help in designing... (I'm new in learning C/C++ )

etv is useful because it does not require .net.

Lead developer of etv got sick of dealing with Microsoft apis.

No other developer picked it up.

The .net requirement is a problem of MediaPortal.

Its a unrequired overhead. Also the Mono.net framework and other clones of MS .Net frame work don't match up perfectly.

Best PVR will be something built in C/C++. Able to make a smaller install image will not need .Net frameworks. The framework only expands the size of the install image.

If you can find someother C/C++ PVR for windows still under development it would be good to here. Still the best in the Media Center around is still MythTV for Linux. This is the bar we have to chase. .Net is only crippling chance of catching.

MediaPortal people have made a bad mistake of comparing self to Microsoft Media Center that is not the best. Feature List of Media Portal and Micrsooft Media Center are no where near MythTV.

Major missing features. MythTV support Riping from the interface. Emulator Intergation. Web Inteface as well as a local interface. Handy for checking up on the kids. http://www.mythtv.org/modules.php?name=MythFeatures For the start point feature before you move into plugins. When you move into plugins you can even burn Normal DVDs from MythTV using the contained content without leaving the interface.

It the one you have to beat. Porting MythTV to windows is most likely to hard due to it interlinks with Unix Based systems.
