Log Out window
Edubuntu has a nice looking Log Out screen:

Should ROS eventually have something as nice and easy to look at... Or should ROS be going to generic Windows look?

I was looking around for shutdown examples and ran across this commercial product that allows you to highly customize Windows, along with controlled shutdowns:

Another fun example of commercial controls developed for Windows:

Would set ROS back alot to just incorporate these ideas from the beginning, but we can always dream.

I like it the way it is in my Windows, click on the log off button in start menu if I choose it to be available there, and display that really plain dialog box

I use switch user, hibernate and sleep a lot.Dominik wrote:Log off *click* -> "Are you shure?" ... Yes I am *click* -> "Are you really shure? Or do you want to lock screen" ... *argh* and the user pushes the power button because he is annoyed of beeing spammed by options what to do!
Shutdown, Logout and Reboot ... thats all you need!
Shutdown???
I use an APC UPS so I don't use Shutdown, I can hardly spell it.MadRat wrote:...Shutdowns for me happen when its raining.

um, ok I understand about the "are you sure", it's dumb in general, that's me using classic logon so an accidental click on logoff in the start menu would suck.
what could be done would be the same basic window but with logoff, switch user, lock and cancel buttons. and another window for shutdown, reboot, sleep.
that's my taste in simplicity and integration with the classic look.
as for what I use, my personal PC is single user, autologon with tweakUI, the only feature I regularly use is shutdown (no noisy crap wasting electrity when not needed!). I use a freeware tabbed program launcher called Blanch, and have a shortcut to shutdown.exe /s /t 00 in that
