interface animations

Post by cmoibenlepro »

For those who didn't check the svn mailing list, ged murphy is doing much work on the interface. He even added some avi for animations when you copy/delete/download files.
They look great and, at the same time, they are very different than winxp.

Thanks Ged, it's great! 8)
I would like to know your comments

BTW, will they be included in version 0.3? Or does ReactOS miss too much apis to show those animations?

ReactOS explorer currently doesn't support things like moving, so there is no scope for the animation yet.

Next job is gonna be improving the file manager, web browser and control panel applets whilst continuing on including more icons and improving the current ones.

This is on going with many other job though, so it's not gonna happen overnight.

Yes, very! I think ReactOS is nice indeed, similar but not too similar to XP and really nice!

Keep up the good work!

I like it, but I got "a bit slow" feeling while watching this (compared to the windows counterpart). Maybe it could be played a little faster?

I think it looks that way because of the frames. How many frames did you use to make these ged? Why not use animated gif or somthing simple like that?
Its Really easy to make things like that using the gimp. Maybe ill give it a go.

I would rather it stayed in avi. Gif has many limitations.

Gaf animations are basically multiframed and multilevel bitmaps. The image is drawn bottom level on up, which simplifies overall design of the animations considerably. They've been used in various games like total annihilation (for explosions) and are not slow to be rendered at all. Implementation is everything when it comes to performance.

well i just did this one in a few minutes i got in late and im off to bed ,....
there is a small "Bump" because one of the frames was off centered (just pretend your transfering files while on a boat lol) but you get the general idea . this is for text files transfers etc...
ill make bettr ones when i have time
