Maybe this would be something more possible at the moment, and just a little different of the standard Classic look... I've tried to adjust it a little bit, so it looks a bit fresher... Any thoughts? [ external image ]
I like it. It may need some finetuning (i think the cross and queston-mark should remain black, as well the text in the buttons/tabs), but the general idea is very cool. I think it should be at least an available option.
its indeed a first attempt, I think some parts should be more subtle, and indeed, when applied, button labels should go over the gradients... However, this is a modified screenshot, so this was a bit easier... I'll look into it...
Perhaps set everything so they are "metallic", and the light is appearing from the top-right, like with the buttons that makes them 3D, but just make it even more so, with the shading across the buttons.
I think the styled buttons look a little funky with the plain background. Try to find some way of making the buttons not stand out so much from the window background.

I don't think this should be the default theme, I think that the traditional classic look should be standard. I think that the proposed theme should be an option, in addition to the current ReactOS look. This theme looks really nice, but probably wouldn't be appreciated by users of slower computers.
I do like this theme, but it definitely shouldn't be default.

The problems is that reactos does not have support for Theming yet, but maybe we could implement some hackish registry entry or something to disable the effects. However I think this theme does perfectly fit to the tango icons we currently use and 84% liked it so far and I will try to implement it if no one else did before as soon as my work on the cache manager is finished.
