Wiki: reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
Hi!
Tried to make my first edit in the wiki.
https://www.reactos.org/wiki/Tests_for_0.4.8
Other software
|-
| [https://sourceforge.net/projects/eraser ... e/download Eraser 6.2.0.2982]
| {{Failed}}
|
| Error-Msg is: ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND [https://jira.reactos.org/browse/CORE-14738 CORE-14738]
|-
But I get 'reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN'!
-> Outdated recaptcha-version!
Can someone update recaptcha?
Can someone make this edit for me?
Greets, Tobias.

Do you know that ROS 0.4.8 has been already released? Do you know that the RC0 is old and that there has been other release candidates issued out before the official 0.4.8 release?Tobias_B._Besemer wrote:Please also add to the wiki...

Do you know that we are preparing for ROS 0.4.9 release?
So what's the point in trying to add stuff in the "tests for 0.4.8" page ????
Re: Wiki: reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
If the search feature in the ReactOS Forum was less awkward to use, Tobias_B._Besemer might have found this viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17055 topic that includes a 'work around' for the reCaptcha bug of the ReactOS Wiki.

If a user want to work with the last stable build and want to know which software works on it (or is tested with it), he looks at this page, right?hbelusca wrote: Do you know that ROS 0.4.8 has been already released? So adding software that works with this build (or not) should be right till the next build is released, right?
And the liveusb-ReactOS-0.4.8-RC0-vgal is the last build released with the new USB-Drivers and therefor the last build people like me, that need this driver that ROS runs, can use, right?

Or in other words: If I test software with ROS and I see that it works, or not, what should I do? Keep it for me? Note it somewhere down? Or what?

You could use your own wiki page at https://reactos.org/wiki/User:Tobias_B._BesemerTobias_B._Besemer wrote:Or in other words: If I test software with ROS and I see that it works, or not, what should I do? Keep it for me? Note it somewhere down? Or what?
Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.
They may help you with a problem, so do have a look at them.

No one that is interested in running ROS and want to know which software already run/works will search there...
...so I prefer to report just the software that doesn't run.

You may well be surprised.Tobias_B._Besemer wrote:No one that is interested in running ROS and want to know which software already run/works will search there...

Have a look at this and add to it, you could also create new pages for more catagories, then link them to each other.

I don't play games - I'm just interested in other apps.

But you could create another page with a different catagory, such as Office apps or Databases or Text Editors, but link them to the games page so they can be all found easy.Tobias_B._Besemer wrote:I don't play games - I'm just interested in other apps.

Re: Wiki: reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
OK, maybe I will do that...
I was thinking that the test pages list the apps that are tested with the version... so I tried to add more apps that I tested with this versions...

Re: Wiki: reCAPTCHA V1 IS SHUTDOWN
Hi Tobias,
I am happy that you are willing to help tesing. I do the very same. I know by myself that finding the right answers in the project pages is not easy, often you need to know the exact name of what you are looking for in order to find it. (That's why I chose to bookmark all important pages once I got pointed to them.)
> If I test software with ROS and I see that it works, or not, what should I do? Keep it for me? Note it somewhere down? Or what?
I had the same question two years ago and was also irritated that the test result pages are only supposed to be used for (regression) tests before the release. My recommendations are:
If possible do your tests on release candidates published on the most current testing page. Currently (as for 7/2018) this is
https://reactos.org/wiki/Tests_for_0.4.9
(If you are not sure if there are current release candidates, try https://reactos.org/wiki/Tests_for_0.4.10 etc. and check whether the page already exists or check the list a the bottom of each test page to see if a new version link appeared. Or look for a forum entry inviting people to test a new release, such as this one).
This page usually contains a current release candidate linked at the top. If you use it you may well be able to add your software to the "Stuff not in the Downloader list" table. Be sure to link to JIRA issues if you found problems with a software. (And of course check the software is not already on the list.)
You also have two other options:
You can create either a forum thread or use your personal wiki page (every member has one) for listing the results of your own tests. This gives you the freedom to do the tests whenever you want, for example after a release. I chose the first option and created this thread, for instance:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15811&p=126104&hili ... al#p126104
It is basically doing exactly what you intend to do, except for my personal software stack.
Hope this helps.
Matthias
