FreeDOS only works from a VHD, true. Same goes for that case on DosBOX and all other VMs. FreeDOS needs its bootloader and everything coming after it to work.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

No I'm saying that I couldn't get FreeDOS to install on an empty VHD within ReactOS so I had to make one in VirtualBox with FreeDOS installed already and transfer the file. But to be fair I don't know how to convert the Install CD to a series of floppies (it only has a boot floppy available). Also Fuzoma was designed as both a bootable OS and an application.

Let's keep this thread tidy, posting just screenshots of working software, otherwise the quality gets quickly diluted.

Can you define working, and to what extent?

Well, having some basic functionality working to a reasonable degree without many visual glitches or impediments.
Progress reports should be fine too, when more more parts of an already posted program start working.

Normally when people post in here, the minimal requirements for making a post is if the program even starts at all.
Programs that can't perform their basic functionality are fine to post, but make sure you actually say what you found the program can and cannot do. It's quite aggravating when someone posts a program that only boots but nothing more and yet says nothing about that. The best kind of post thoroughly tests a program and lists what doesn't work yet.

I see. I try to make sure programs I test function to an exceptable point, but I don't have time to run as good as test as some other people.

The Earth Worm Jim 1 DOS demo works...

[ external image ]

As you can see this demo has a slight graphic glitch (I think that is actually because of the resolution of the game), but is otherwise playable. I couldn't get the EWJ2 DOS demo to work though.

Still have to buy the full versions of EWJ 1+2 (DOS) and EWJ 3D (Windows). I'll do that in a couple of months...

If, by "slight graphic glitch", you're talking about this strange vertical band at the left, then you need to report this problem on Jira, because it is certainly due to some scrolling code that was implemented 1 week ago max. and which is known to be not perfect.

I haven't got Jira to work for my account. Is there anything special I need to do?

Some people experience problems logging into Jira when they are new here, but you have been around long enough for you to be able to log in at Jira. Try logging out on the front page of reactos.org, then log in again, then see if you can log in at the Jira page.
Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.
They may help you with a problem, so do have a look at them.

Tried it...

But trying to get the username sent to me it apparently doesn't exist for my email.

Did I do something wrong?

Your username is the same as for the forums & the website, there's nothing to need to send...? Password should also be the same.

From what you have written, yes you have done something wrong! No need to join Jira, all you need to do is to put your username and password into the correct input fields, then click on the Log In button.
Look at this page and find this heading A layman's guide - How to create a Jira Issue for your bug.; it explains with pictures.
