I am glad he's making some progress, even if it isn't directly related to the current issues. But I am sure it is building upon the base of knowledge and thus making the intended goals closer.

Despite not being the progress he's looking for, it's still good work. The more bugs squashed the closer we are and the more we understand.

Picture of a cat means no progress to show to "layman" public, which made me a little sad when opening the blogpost. But I believe the bugs are in finite amount and sooner or later will David run out of them, resulting in stable and polished implementation.

The picture of a cat does not mean "no progress". It means that I could take as many screenshots as I want, it still LOOKS the same. The thing about look&feel, is that a single picture can only represent the look, not the feel.

Once I manage to fix all the logic, and the menus work as expected, I'll have to find a means to show you just how "as expected" feels like. ;P

Sorry for misdescribing the cat pictures, I meant "no showable progress" and I meant no offense. When you do have squashed all the bugs you planned, one of the ways to present the results would be a side-by-side comparison video, something similar to this. Or, to present it right in the blogpost, a gif screencast such as this one (link to howto).

I believe the adjective is "Sisyphean".

Sisyphean, it seems. ;P

EDIT: Oh, you already corrected yourself. ;P

hey David!

why not committing into main trunk so that we can all benefit from your progress so far?

Because its not done yet? That's the reason for a branch
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

If my post/reply offends or insults you, be sure that you know what sarcasm is...

Exactly. The current code is incomplete. Until it works well enough that we can switch the default explorer to explorer-new, it makes no sense to commit to trunk.

Wasn't it partially implemented in the 0.3.16 RC2, though?

Explorer_new was. The new shell32 library, not so much.
