I have noticed more phone operating systesm have come out. There was the FireFox OS for phones. Now there is the Tizen and Sailfish operating systems for phones.

In a way ReactOS is being left behind but that could be a good thing as it causes a concentration on one thing instead of many.

Re: ReactOS Cellphone Themes
After writing the desktop OS, there's nothing stopping an independent entity from porting ReactOS to the ARM architecture, the same way Windows 8 was ported to ARM. But we have to write the operating system before anyone can port, that's a much more difficult task. ReactOS isn't really being left behind, it's just not finished. Without basic functionality, words like "falling behind" and "obsolete" are pretty much meaningless.

Smart Phone with Intel Inside? (Re: ReactOS Cellphone Themes
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ ... hones.html
It seems there are phones that have an Intel processor inside. Would it make it easier to port ROS to these phones? (after the desktop is completed ).

Re: ReactOS Cellphone Themes
x86 phones will support x86 operating systems. Just remember that these phones don't have keyboards, so they'll need an OS that includes an on-screen keyboard, or you'll have to install a third-party keyboard application. The OS should also support touchscreens, at least to the point of letting the mouse cursor be moved by touch. Obviously it's easier to support an x86 phone than an ARM phone, but an OS that isn't designed to run on a phone probably won't be very much fun to use.

How about a tablet computer with an Intel type processor?

Re: ReactOS Cellphone Themes
i guess ros should run on any 86x smart phone or tablet that run windows
but then u have to implant the touch system so u can enjoy it
like adding metro alternative to it
and then the touch screen drivers and all the drivers of the hardware should be modified to be compatible

Re: ReactOS Cellphone Themes
The goal of ReactOS is to be binary compatible with Windows applications/drivers. We're not in the business of modifying drivers (because we don't need to). The more complete ReactOS becomes, the more/better drivers will work on it - in their original form.
And ReactOS may one day work on touch systems and someone may even implement metro (*shudder*), but let's not put the cart before the horse here. We need a fully functional and stable OS before we start adding new goals.

I am looking forward to that fully functional and stable operating system. IMO; it will be a great alternative to what is out there now.milon wrote:The goal of ReactOS is to be binary compatible with Windows applications/drivers.
