Hi, welcome to ReactOS!

Most apps created in VB6 don't work good yet in ReactOS, sometimes they crash. Some may work though. You'll need to copy the VB6 runtime dll's to your ReactOS installation.

Also, VB6 apps will never be included in the ReactOS distribution, as they are impossible to compile with only opensource compilers.

We use assembly and C for the OS and applications, though we will accept C++ under certain conditions.

There are plenty of free compilers and stuff out there. If you want an IDE, I would suggest MS' Visual C++ Express Edition. There's also Code::Blocks, Eclipse, NetBeans, etc. VCEE you'll need to register but that's fairly straightforward. Others are completely free.

10 or so years of smart people have created source code, which is why ReactOS lives!
More ReactOS, please!

I don't think windows is going anywhare for quate a while yet but anyway, to compile reactos you should get the Reactos build enviroment: http://www.reactos.org/wiki/index.php/H ... or_Windows

VB6.0

I Think I found a way to get VB6.0 Apps to work a Little bit better.

I added a Blank picture with no border in the background because it and the top were giving problems. The top still has problems but the main area works ok now when you click on it. It would always crash when I clicked some were on it before.

.NET support is a future consideration. We need a complete win32k first.
