FreeLoader not loading...

Post by JimShorts »

I'm trying to install ReactOS from an unzipped QEMU image. I extracted all the files to a partition, then booted off a GRUB floppy and loaded the kernel, but it didn't work. (Also, there seems to be a bug and pressing any key doesn't do anything.)

Code: Select all

grub> root (hd1,3)
type: fat *info about fs here*
grub> kernel /freeldr.sys
*kernel info here, something about a multiboot kludge*
grub> boot
Press any key to reboot...
So I tried extracting the ISO contents to that partition and booting the installer (expecting to just pick another partition and reformat this one later):

Code: Select all

grub> root (hd1,3)
type: fat *info about fs here*
grub> kernel /loader/setupldr.sys (also tried /loader/freeldr.sys, some error about missing freeldr.ini)
*kernel info here, something about a multiboot kludge*
grub> boot
*installer boots, loads some files and gives me a BSOD: STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE*
This is getting really annoying... please help!

TIA, Mike

Firstly, the QEMU image is meant to be booted with QEMU.

Secondly, the install CD is meant to be booted from a CD (or in an emulator like QEMU or VMware).

OK, I just tried to boot the CD image in QEMU. It installed, rebooted, went through some config thing, rebooted, and FreeLoader came up. But when I selected ReactOS it started loading files and said:
Language default setting exists, but isn't readable
And then it went back to FreeLoader. The debug one didn't work either.

What language did you choose?
