Install hangs in virtualbox

I use Virtualbox 1.5.6 for all of my virtualization needs.. I thought I'd try ReactOS so I downloaded the ISO image. Well, it starts to boot but it hangs on a blue screen with "Please wait..." at the bottom. Is there some setting or something I need to change?

I've searched through the forums and seed posts that suggest ReactOS does not work at all in virtualbox, then other posts (more recent ones) saying it works fine.

So what should I try?

Without a revision, we can't even theorize what might go wrong.

ROS should work in Vbox quite fine. Some random issues may pop in, but after a reboot or two it should reach 3rd stage. Without revision number i cannot retry it, though.

How do I find the revision #? is this the revision of virtualbox or the revision of ReactOS?

Hi,

I'm having the same issue with ReactOS 0.3.4 trying to install directly on a machine. (no emulator). I've tried it on 3 machines, it works on one of them, (though the mouse & keyboard don't seem to be detected, which is a problem) and not on the other two. I can provide the lspci outputs under linux of each of the machines. first the ones that don't work :

Without debug output provided we cannot say what did went wrong. To obtain such, you need two PCs, each one with serial port and a null modem cable to connect them. One PC runs ROS debug version, other - some app to receive text from null modem, like hyperterminal.

We can then use those logs to see what is the problem.

looking at the two log that being post here.
1. one is Intel graphic card 845

Intel 845G, 865G, 915G (may be others)
PRB: Cannot set resolution higher than 800x600x8bits and 640x480x16bits.
DETAILS: In Video BIOS frame buffer size hardwired to 832 Kbytes, which is not enough even for 1024x768x16bit = 1024*768*2 = 1572864, 1572864 > 832K.
FIX: Update your BIOS with latest version or patch it.

for some ati card and other follow issue was detected and fixed
Different VESA cards that contain 16Bits rom code
PRB: When calling VBE functions, highword bits of EAX register and may be others (i.e. 0x????0000) may contain garbage.
DETAILS: In Video BIOS VESA that is writen in pure 16Bits asm code when you using 32 bit registers in the call the higher part can be croupted then.
FIX: Filter highword bits of EAX. Patch applay to ReactOS VBE Driver today 21/5-2008
