It doesn't install anything
Hello, I've downloaded ReactOS (Install CD ver 0.3.0 REL)
It boots and starts loading ntoskernel but it seems that loading this file or something keeps my CD-ROM reading and reading, and never stops (until reboot with reset button )also the display shows a black screen...
I've also tried the Live CD but it does the same.... it shows the loading screen, and the CD-ROM has the same problem...
hope you help me...
BTW: it's an old PII computer

Of course I set the boot sequence to boot CD-ROM first...
The Install CD loads the blue screen which is similar to WinNT's method to install it shows that is loading ntoskernel but after that the screen becomes black and the CD-rom's led blinks as if it were reading, but nothing happens, I waited 10 minutes (as much as my patience let me... )
I also tried the last SVN LiveCD debug and it doesn't work
Maybe there is an special hardware setup, maybe I have to have my HD connected to an exclusive IDE or my CD-ROM?
I don't know ... I tried with an Emulator it works well. but too slow for an PII computer...
PS: thx 4 ur fast reply!

LiveCD SVN does not run on all systems at the moment.vigil wrote:.. and the CD-rom's led blinks as if it were reading, but nothing happens, I waited 10 minutes (as much as my patience let me... )

Please try a bootCD before SVN 25746 from

How far do You get with that on Your PII ?
Are You sure: only ntoskrnl.exe ?vigil wrote:.. it shows that is loading ntoskernel but after that the screen becomes black and the CD-rom's led blinks as if it were reading, but nothing happens, ..
Are there no drivers loaded after that ?

Perhaps You get a different result when booting from HD rather than from BootCD - but I don't know.vigil wrote:The only result until now, is a black screen after loading ntoskernel....
Maybe there's code differences ..
After ntoskrnl.exe comes HAL.DLL
Probably there is a BUG inside ?
Don't You have a more actual PC ?
You can try - without damages - to boot with BootCD up to "Welcome to ReactOS Setup" so You can see what should usually happen ..
cdrom led blink
You must change your cdrom drive. Your drive can't recognize any optical media.

Well, You used BootCD - You didn't tell anything about Your hardware.PeterK wrote:Did You use LiveCD ?
Not all hardware dependencies are solved jet.
Please have a look at

Probably this gives You some more informations.
Best regards,
Peter.

If You are not able to exactly describe the hardware of your PC, how should anyone analyze possible (hardware depending) bugs ? Reporting Your bug this way doesn't help to solve the problem.rnnbassman wrote:it is built from older parts, and its AMD its not turned on atm and i dont feel like getting my brother up to check it. but its at least from 2001 or before.
