Swap partitions

Post by Z98 »

In order to install a swap partition, do I need to use a separate HD partitioner? Reading through the wiki leads me to believe that ReactOS' installer can't do it and the operating system itself does not create a swap space for itself like Windows does.

ReactOS does not use swap partitions, but rather creates a "pagefile.sys", which serves for swap space.

So that wiki entry about ReactOS not being able to run some things if it runs out of space because it doesn't have a swap is outdated or something?

ReactOS uses a swap file of fixed size (you can change that size via the registry). So it's possible to run out of swap space, which is probably what the Wiki article refers to

Maybe I didn't make it that clear. ReactOS uses a file, "pagefile.sys", instead of a separate partition for swap space.
