Using VMWare Workstation 7
ReactOS-0.4.13.iso
VMWare is set for Windows XP installation as suggested.
Memory 512MB
All others on default
Loading(debug)
Freezes when loading drivers\CDROM.SYS
When I disconnect the CD-ROM drive from the VM it works.
No CD-ROM

Re: VMWare freezes before desktop CDROM.SYS
Solved it:
- Boot gues OS with CD-ROM disconnected.
- After entering desktop connect the CD-ROM device.
- Install VMWare tools
( deselect SCSI device driver or system will hang )
( deselect vmware tools main program, doesn't run and will nag about missing dll )
- Reboot
Now having troubles with SCSI device not recognized and VM Mouse not being released by the OS when trying to move outside guest OS even though the VM mouse driver seems installed correctly by VMWare tools.

Try one of the latest builds from https://reactos.org/getbuilds/
Please keep the Windows classic 9x/2000 look and feel.
The layman's guides - debugging - bug reporting - compiling - ISO remaster.
They may help you with a problem, so do have a look at them.

Re: VMWare freezes before desktop CDROM.SYS
Who cares? Windows et al. can run on VMWare Workstation 7 --> ReactOS can do that too.
