[QEMU] freeldr destroys itself

Post by philipp.ludwig »

Hello everyone,

When I install and run ReactOS in QEMU, it will install fine, then freeze when trying to use the Wine Internet Explorer, and after a reset freeldr.sys cannot be found anymore.

Steps:
  • Start a VM via:

    Code: Select all

    qemu-system-x86_64 -L . -rtc base=localtime --enable-kvm -cpu host -hda disk.img -cdrom ~/downloads/ReactOS-0.4.13.iso -boot d
  • Install ReactOS using the default settings
  • After the installation is finished, open the Wine Internet Explorer (I do this from the Applications Window, because it has a link to click on).
  • Open a Website which has lots of stuff to load, e.g. heise.de
  • First, the Internet Explorer will freeze; after some time, everything freezes.
  • Reset the VM via QEMU
Result:

Code: Select all

freeldr.sys not found
I am happy to provide more information or to debug this myself, but I don’t know how (yet - I am new here).

I am not filing a bug for this, because I am sure that I am doing something wrong here - i.e. this is probably my fault, not ReactOS‘s.

Update: I forgot to add the

Code: Select all

-m
parameter to QEMU. By default, it seems that only about 400 MB are allocated for the VM, which of course is not enough. Now the system does not freeze anymore.

It's more like the filesystem is destroying itself, instead of freeldr.
