Troubleshooting ReactOS

Post by winglee »

I currently have ReactOS 3.13 and I need help booting it. After I installed the first phase, getting ready for the second phase, The ReactOS logo and loading screen was the last thing I saw when the screen turned and stayed black. Can anyone help me?

I imagine the first thing you'll be told is that you're using an old version of ReactOS - that version was released march of last year.

You can download the latest Official release from here: http://www.reactos.org/en/download.html

Right now, however, you might be best downloading the latest ReactOS from http://www.reactos.org/getbuilds/ This version may not always work properly, but when it does, there's a fair chance it will work better than the official release (as long as they aren't doing some major overhauling).

Once you have the latest version, try it again and post whether it works for you or not. Remember: there will be lots of bugs; this is only for testing and demonstration purposes, absolutely do not use it as your day to day machine, or keep anything important on it.

We'll also need to know (if you still have trouble) if you're using a virtual machine (like VirtualBox, Bochs, QMEU, etc) or if you're running it on a physical PC. If you're using a physical machine, we'll need to know what hardware you're using (not all hardware is supported yet).
