ReactOS on new hardware

Very interested in trying this OS. Will it run on new hardware like a Gen 13 ThinkPad X1 Carbon? Will it run UWP apps?

It might run on modern hardware like the one you mentioned, BUT only with some forks integrated. UEFI and some ACPI stuff is still not in main tree, but most likely needed for running at all. BTW, no SMP yet, too. So dont forget what I wrote into my signature ^^

UWP apps do not work yet.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

I do not think there is any project like Wine for metro apps / UWP apps
