New calculator icon

Post by littlepuppy » Mon Oct 24, 2011 11:10 pm

The existing calculator icon is very hard to understand (hardly looks like a calculator at all!).
So I decided to make a new one. I used the ReactOS paint to make this so it is in .bmp format, I need to figure out how to make it into an icon and make it transparent. Now how do I upload the image?

I think the current icon is better, but a bit too dark:

Maybe the current calculator icon would be more see-able if the screen was lit up.

But the buttons look like some gray dots on small icons — I think they deserve to be given more contrast.

The calculator on the current icon seems to display 3.14. Perhaps the new one should show something like 2.7 or, let us say, 1.618? :)

NIce icon. That could easily could replace the existing one.
It looks detailed even in the smallest size.

I don't get one thing: Why having an icon for something, that no user will see, for the operating system running it is too buggy to even show the image. (yes, this is way exaggerated, but still). If you have a operating system, that works properly, then you can start having nice images and stuff, but I guess the priority should just be the operating system at the time. That's what I think of it.

Don't forget the non devs who wanna do something fo reactos too. Let them be as we can add their stuff when the spot is reached

ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

true. Don't count me to a dev, I'm not really developing anything for Ros right now.

It's been a long time since I updated this icon. Sorry for that and I hope you will like the new one:
