Re: Yazou's stuff
The first sentence reads "Since the past decade, developers from around the world are working hard to make ReactOS a reality." It should read " Since the past decade, developers from around the world have been working hard to make ReactOS a reality," since you're referring to developers in the past tense. Also, the part where it says "ReactOS will finally provide an alternative to people wishing to embrace open source but remain hindered by the lack of Linux versions for their everyday software or incompatible hardware." I think what you are trying to say is "ReactOS will finally provide an alternative to people wishing to embrace open source but remain hindered by the lack of Linux compatibility for their everyday software and hardware." There's no lack of Linux versions, so I'm assuming you mean compatibility.
I don't want to sound like a nag or anything, just trying to help. I can't program well, so I find myself going around proofreading other people's promotional material.
By the way, nice work on the cover!

I would suggest to change
Also, ReactOS is ©1996-2009 already. :)
ReactOS as whole is distributed under GNU GPL, it is not triple-licensed under GPL + LGPL + BSDL.
And is it possible to save the svg file in a svgz format? It will be about 37% lesser.

Updated.
Thanks for the help .
The overview text is not from me . It's the same as the official cover.RaptorEmperor wrote:The first sentence reads "Since the past decade, developers from around the world are working hard to make ReactOS a reality." Re: Yazou's stuff
I believe you can easily set-up FPDF / GeoIP location to build the current cover in the right language dynamically on-demand...

Re: Yazou's stuff
Updated (little).
@forart : The SVG -> PDF conversion doesn't render well. Maybe this one is better. I can't try it because I'm not good with these stuff and I'm not on Linux. But I think that's better to translate it "manually".
But making the cover multilingual is a good idea .
There are still some issues with the cover like justify the text that I don't know how to fix.

Re: Yazou's stuff
Why do you need to convert the SVG to PDF?

Re: Yazou's stuff
Sorry I looked at the link too fast. I thought it build PDFs (multilingual) from PDF (monolingual). But it still doesn't fit well with SVG, isn't it ?
Edit : Updated. I made the French translation. It's not perfect and it can surely be better made.
Any volunteers to correct or to translate in other languages ?

Re: Yazou's stuff
Quick test:
http://www.forart.it/cover.php?image=01.png&ver=0.38a
Try to type anything in place of "0.38a" and change "01.png" with "02.jpg" parameters...
Can you understand what i mean ?
Easy as:
Note that you can also easily get text from txt files, put images with alpha transparency, etc.
Check out tutorial and script examples.

Easy as:
Code: Select all
<?php
require('../classes/fpdf.php');
$pdf = new FPDF('L', 'pt', 'a4');
$pdf->AddPage();
$pdf->SetAuthor('CC by-nc-sa / Associazione Culturale >>Forward Agency');
$pdf->Image('../images/'.$image, 0, 0, $size[0], $size[1]);
$pdf->SetFont('Arial','B',16);
$pdf->SetTextColor(128);
$pdf->Cell(40,10,$ver);
$pdf->Output();

37 cool DVD templates (it would be great to allow users to customize the DVD background, expecilly for distros...)
Those guyz should be involved too...
...and those would be really great for the website, IMHO !

Re: Yazou's stuff
No sorry, I don't understand what would it change compared to SVG .forart wrote:Can you understand what i mean ?
If I understood well what is it for, it's for changing the text dynamically, right ?
But the website hoster is the only one who can allow different texts and you can't do some changes like SVG allows to do (like the background of the text on the back cover).
I like the 7 DVD Covers, especially the first one with the background.
And for the website, this one may be the best, IMHO.
PS : Added a wallpaper.
Edit : Oops, sorry hto.
