Explorer Toolbar Icons

Post by Coviti » Thu Apr 13, 2006 4:23 am

I really think that the toolbar icons in ReactOS 0.2.9 just stink, but I would like to know what you think. I know that ROS is in the programming stage; UI isn't top priority, but it seriously reminds me of NT 4.0. If anyone has some suggestions for the icons in ROS Explorer, please present them here. I really hate the current ones!

Personally, I think that the toolbar icons are great! Much more better than it was before... 8)

There should be map icons and unknown filtype icons, so you can see the difference between maps and files in a blink of the eye

I agree that the icons of 0.2.9 are pretty bad (the version you tried), but the icons of 0.3 SVN (see the screenshot above) are truly amazing! They would probably look a little better when they're alpha blended, but I guess that's not technically possible yet.

As for what Switchboy said, a difference between those icons would indeed be handy, but you can't have everything ;).

Yep, your right.
As we lack the advanced layered features introduced in 2K, there isn't much we can do to improve the icon feel at the moment.
However as things improve under the hood, so will the user interface.

I'm glad you like the icons as they are now. I spent a lot of time trying to improve the GUI from the 0.2.9 look. I have many more plans though :)

0.3 Icons are so much better!

These ones are way better than the ones in 0.2.9; they actually remind me of the ones in XP, not NT 4.0!

I bluid 64*64 32*32 and 16*16.

The program icon still needs some work.

Can't ROS use some of the very nice 'opensource' iconsets, availble on the internet?

The tango icons look nice. Alphablending will do a lot when implemented... How is the actual state right now? How much work is it to implement?
