ReactOs UI

Post by happy1460 » Sun Jun 23, 2013 3:14 pm

Hi. I hope this project works and happens soon. As you know, Microsoft will be dropping my beloved OS Windows XP. And I do not want to be forced to use Windows 7. I hate it. People are wrong when they say the start menu of 7 is like XP. It's not. Windows 7 takes more clicks to do what XP can do in one click. Please don't design the UI like Windows 7. Leave it simple and easy going like XP. And don't add the ugly aero glass stuff. I wish you could add the XP Luna themes and of course classic. And it would be great if we could tweak the Luna colors. I like black. I'm using a visual style right now and it's a subtle black, not a eye hurting black. Microsoft is blowing it when they drop XP. They deliberately excluded Direct X 10 and IE9 from XP. They know the game companies will drop XP because they want to use Direct X 10. I hope this OS can play all the old games of yesteryear that XP could play. I guess I'll have to try Zorin. I'm just worry because all the Windows 7 people are trying to get ReactOs to be like crappy 7. And that will be stupid because 7 is still supported. :)

Luna is MS's design thus wot be used, but we have our own. Check the forums for "Lautus".

I like transparency effects, but they do not work yet. As for DirectX... We "support" DX8 and 9 right now thx to WIne's DX wrapper.

ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

Be sure that the ReactOS team is doing their best job to bring to life a new incredible operating system away from Microsoft's claws :)!

Hi. I wish it could get DirectX 10 to work. I don't mind the glass look but I like it to work in the XP, 2000 UI interface. I don't like Windows 7 menus, etc. Will it be possible for people to use their old XP visual styles on ReactOs? Because I have a lot of them. Hope so. Thanks

RoyalUI and Luna work at least. So I would say, yes

I like the speed of Windows XP and the start menu it has. It would be great to upgrade to ReactOS.

I have Windows 7 at work and Windows 8 at home. Windows 8 makes me appreciate Windows 7.

hi
making reactos look like windows 7 or windows 8 metro i do not have a problem with as long as classic is the default or you get the option during setup to choose what themes you want to use

edit
if you want metro for react os then have a look at this http://www.iobit.com/iobit-winmetro.php
