Currently running Steam crashes and burns.

You all do know that among other things, Steam is a DRM system, right?

Steam is included in the supported apps? Didn't realize that. I wonder if any steam-enabled games will run yet ;)
I seem to remember a video of half-life running with a few issues.
That wasn't the steam version - you can run Half-Life when you install it directly from CD and it could work within Software Mode.

Any free SCUMM-VM based game should be good. Those are rewritten DOS classics designed to work under modern Windows versions. Beneath a Steel Sky is one example. Game emulators in general though, are tricky, since they may require cartridge data or other proprietary files, and downloading such things without owning the cartridges might not be legal. But emulators which will run freeware/open source stuff for other platforms would be fine.

The OffByOne browser would be good to list, if it is not already there. It only takes up 1.2 Mb.

X-Setup Pro might be good. It is abandonware and the authors freely gave it and its installation key to the public.

We might want to make our own Tweaks-UI sort of tool, or better yet, incorporate the options into the shell. That way, there will be no need to use the Microsoft utility.

Scummvm has the same problems as any emulator. You still need the original data files from the games. So it's as legal as emulators are, fully legal if you own the game

What PurpleGurl is saying is that there are some games which their producers actually released for free. The mentioned Beneath a Steel Sky, The Flight of the Amazon Queen and demos are examples, all of them available in the scummvm website.

Correct. That was why the 2nd word I used was free, to distinguish all of the games remade for the emulator from the free ones. A few let SCUMMVM have the rights to their old games, and they come with all the files.

MP3TagTools is one of the best ID3 tag editors I've ever used, and it is open source.

One thing to keep an eye on with games is that for some, support will be down the road. Some require Direct X, so we'll need to get "React X" up and running, and any APIs that would require.

Which is why I was asking for games/utils that were known to work currently. There certainly are a lot on that site, possibly a few might work if they are well behaved Win32 GDI applications. I'll have to try some of those out. Half of the ones on Winsite wouldn't even install, but a couple of them ran and looked pretty slick.

I'm not too certain what this post is about but I would like to make a suggestion, don't hate me for it cuz I posted things in GM Community and people can be such critics to what is posted, but anyways here it goes: A built-in updater for ReactOS. Like what linux has. That way ReactOS is always kept up to date with the latest new fixes and what not. So when they release a new version of ReactOS then it would download automatically and install over the older version. If I'm out of topic or breaking rules, I'm sorry. I'm VERY new here, just joined today and just found out today about this really cool OS. I couldn't find the rules... So I don't even know if i'm breaking a rule by suggesting this. But no really, a built-in updater is just what this OS needs!!! For sure!!

Your rules. http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3709
Well, this was already discussed several times here and won't be done in the current state, there are more important things to do first.

I'll gladly test out every game on my site. I haven't yet because I haven't been able to get internet access under Bochs. Maybe I'll just put the installers on a second hard drive image and try to install them from the D: drive.

There are two videos of Half-Life running on ROS made by me ;-)

Big issue is the Half-Life menu. I think it is based on coordinates and in ROS they are read wrong (i've heard that in Wine too)

Incidentally, I did try out two games in ROS and neither one worked (using QEMU and Bochs). The Adventures of MicroMan v2.0 starts, but text is upside down. Once the game begins, the foreground and background are all dark, so it's almost impossible to see MicroMan except for a dark shape moving around on the background. Mah Jongg '97 is playable, but the tiles are black instead of white.

Could you report those issues In ReactOS bugzilla?Maybe a GDI dev can give a sight to those issues :)
