They can't. MPlayer is in a legal gray area, so it would be difficult to include it. Also, I think the purpose of ReactOS Media Player is to use the built-in media frameworks, like Windows Media Player does on Microsoft Windows.

You have to learn copyright laws a bit more !
Well, uhmm, MPlayerGUI is not a generic GUI. It is a GUI for MPlayer. Now, if you are suggesting that ReactOS Media Player be recreated with this GUI design in mind, that's fine. But integrating MPlayerGUI is simply not possible.

I don't often side with forart because of differing opinions, but, what are you talking about?
Eeehhh.... these are the results of rentless pro-copyright campigns...
If you distribute *just a GUI* (well, i believe that anyone can download or even build "something" - Mplayer too - separately) you don't infringe anything.
Nowdays, in Internet years, many free/open softwares uses this strategy: they provide you "what's legal" and YOU have to provide the "barelly legal" stuff.
Of course, i'd love to see just royality free codecs supported, but it's too early at the moment.
A solution could be to support the "automatic" re-encoding of any content into rf-codecs only...

In progress we (always) trust.
I hope ReactOS to become only ultrafast and written in c c++ and everyone can install their own apps and stuff, there is no need to integrate MPlayer out of box. Look how messed nowdays are Linux distros like several different players and gazillion programming languages integrated, horrible.
Integrating Media Player Classic Home Cinema makes more sense. From the beginning it was created as clone of the original default Microsoft media player, and it is more stable than MPlayer and faster from my experience.
