Could VB6 used to locate Reactos bugs ?

Post by wildschwein »

Only an idea: Could small programms written in VB6 help to locate bugs ?
They must surely be written in a way that they provoke a certain error.

just an idea....

That is what is done with our test suite in C. Though if you ever find something which doesn't work with vb6 program, then it's a bug.

I know that some languages such as python and perl have a test suite to check behviour between releases. That could be a good idea to run them on reactos on a regular basis. As they are open source, that would make this easier to spot bugs than with tests run with closed source solutions such as VB6.

Python fails to even load any app. That's why the screen reader app I tested a while ago failed to load anything.
ReactOS is still in alpha stage, meaning it is not feature-complete and is recommended only for evaluation and testing purposes.

Maybe we can use "python" regtests(they are as our apitests) to check where it fails.
Seems this is a Wine problem, and arwinss has the same issue

I've been testing Mono on every release, I'm able to install but not able to successfully run anything in it yet.
A test suite in mono might be a nice compromise- open source, c# language, etc.
